Learning From Jesus

Serving as a bridge between traditional Bible study, reading of devotional classics, and larger spiritual formation/intentional discipleship themes and ideas, the first two volumes of the RENOVARÉ Spiritual Formation Guides series are now available. With the 15 expressions of the With-God Life as introduced in the Renovaré Spiritual Formation Bible as inspiration, Connecting with God corresponds to the "The People of God in Individual Communion" expression, while Learning from Jesus draws from "The People of God with Immanuel" for insight.

Formatted similarly to the much-used RENOVARÉ A Spiritual Formation Workbook, books in the series are accessible to individuals or small groups. Each chapter includes a devotional classic or contemporary selection reading, a My Life With God spiritual practice exercise, a Scripture reflection, numerous teaching points for intentional discipleship, and an example of an historical Christian as an exemplar of the topic at hand. Other resources for continuing reflection and growth are also present.

The series authors are Lynda L. Graybeal, longtime RENOVARÉ Administrator and Renovaré Bible General Editor, and Julia L. Roller, Renovaré Bible Managing Editor. Julia and Lynda are presently working on the next two books in the series, to correspond with the Renovaré Bible With-God Life expressions "The People of God in Prayer and Worship" (Psalms) and "The People of God on Mission" (Book of Acts). These installments in the series will be released in early 2007. The remaining 11 books will be introduced two every six to nine months between now and 2010.

A Tapestry of Love: The Spirituality of Caregiving

A Tapestry of Love: The Spirituality of Caregiving is a resource for caregivers who often feel isolated and prone to exhaustion, loneliness, depression, anger, and resentment. Using Jesus' interaction with Mary and Martha as recorded in Scripture, A Tapestry of Love provides a framework for spiritual practices that nurtures the crucial work of caregivers, bolsters their relationship with care-receivers, and promotes intimacy with God. The book is written by Joe LaGuardia, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Conyers, and Daphne Reiley, a member of the pastoral care team at Sandy Springs Christian Church. Click here to learn more.
