Deacon Network

For we are partners working together for God, and you are God's field. 1 Corinthians 3:9

On April 5-6, 2013, a "Deacon Summit" was convened in Macon. The purpose of the summit was to foster spiritual discovery and biblical discipleship within Baptist laity in general and deacons in particular. Participants engaged in serious conversation about Baptist deacons as lay ministers and had conversation with God in times of prayer, and conversation with each other in times of discernment. There were breakout sessions, small group discussions, worship, and fellowship. The participants learned from each other, form new friendships, and share successes and struggles, and sought God for our personal lives, for our churches, and for our world.

This gathering launched a "Baptist Deacon Network" that is owned by deacons themselves. David Keel (First Baptist, Augusta), Don Brewer (First Baptist, Gainesville), Mark Whitaker (Harlem Baptist, Harlem), Mike Hendley (First Baptist, St. Simons), Susan Broome (First Baptist, Macon), and Carol Palmer (Smoke Rise Baptist, Atlanta) are the steering committee.

A list of upcoming deacon network events can be found on the sidebar of this page.
